Since the zoom function of the iPhone is limited, you need additional equipment to use the smartphone as binoculars. To do so, either install an appropriate app or buy a suitable adapter to connect to binoculars.

To use your iPhone as binoculars as well, you need either a binocular app to improve the zoom function of your iPhone or an adapter to connect it to binoculars.

1. To connect your iPhone to conventional binoculars, the "HOOKUPz" adapter from Carson is suitable. This is compatible with the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 and costs 50 euros.
2. Also suitable for a connection of iPhone and binoculars is the "Solomark Universal Phone Adapter". This costs around 15 euros and is compatible with iPhone models 5 to 6 Plus.
3. If you have a newer iPhone, such as the iPhone XS Max or iPhone 8, the "PEMOTech binocular adapter" is the appropriate model. This is available for a price of 16 euros.

If you do not want to buy an adapter for your iPhone, you alternatively have the option of installing binoculars app. One app that allows you to use your iPhone as binoculars is "Binocular Super Zoom Camera". In addition to zooming to maximum zoom level, the app also offers you other extras such as a flashlight or the use of multiple theme colors and binocular frames. To install the free app on your iPhone, you need at least iOS 10.0 and 17.5 MB of free space on the device.
