Convert music to MP3 - how to change the format

To listen to music in your car or play it from another playback device, it is useful if you convert the songs to MP3. To perform this operation, you do not need expensive software, but can use free programs.

How to convert music to MP3

A free option is the app ac. This allows you to convert and save your music in different file formats.

1. Download and install the app fre:ac. To do this, simply follow the instructions that you see on the screen.
2. After that, launch the app by double-clicking on the app icon.
3. In the new window, you need to drag the files that you want to convert. For this you can use both individual tracks and entire folders.
4. Alternatively, you can use the key combination of "CTRL" + "A" to insert songs.
5. Once you have transferred all the desired tracks into the program, you need to press the key combination of "CTRL" + "E". After that fre:ac will automatically start converting to MP3 format.
6. Alternatively, you can press the small arrow in the menu bar and select "LAME MP3 Encoder" from the drop-down menu.

Where are your files stored?

The app automatically saves the converted files with the originals. This gives you the MP3 format for each original. If you want a different location, then you have to set the output directory manually under the "Search" button.
