Merging duplicate contacts - this is how it is possible

Under Google Contacts you can enter different people with name and phone number. Over time, you may have created multiple entries for one person. With the appropriate function, you can merge duplicate contacts on Android.

How to merge duplicate contacts on your smartphone

On your smartphone, it can happen that you have created multiple entries for one person. In this case, you have an option on both Android and iOS to merge the contacts.

1. If you want to merge your "iCloud" contacts, this is done through your Mac. First, make a copy of your contacts and then select "Contacts" to open it.
2. Under "Business Card", click on the "Search for Duplicates" option. Then select the "Merge" entry. You need to repeat these steps several times until no more duplicate contacts are found.
3. On Android, you can merge the contacts directly on the smartphone. To do this, open the Contacts app on the device. At the top right you will see the icon with the three dots. Tap on it and then go to "Select".
4. Now you can select all the contacts that you want to merge. Then select "Merge" in the menu.
5. Alternatively, you can also select "Suggestions" via the "Menu". After that, tap on "Clean up duplicates". Wird bei Ihnen dieser Punkt nicht angezeigt, dann gibt es keine doppelten Kontakte.
