Set the presentation date of Nokia 9, the top of the range of the Finnish company with 18:9 screen. It will also be launched a new version of the Nokia 8
After the many rumors that have accompanied the Nokia 9 in recent months, now we finally have a date for the presentation: January 19, 2018. The news comes directly from China, where the smartphone will be presented in pomp and circumstance. And from the rumors coming from the Asian nation the Nokia 9 should not be the only smartphone to take the stage: together there should also be the Nokia 8 version 2018.
In this case it is a real surprise: no rumor that came out so far spoke of a new version of the top of the range that Nokia launched in Italy in September. The two devices will launch first in China and should make their debut in Europe at the end of February at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. This is the same strategy adopted by HMD Global (the Finnish company in charge of making Nokia smartphones) with the Nokia 6: launch in January 20017 in China and presentation in Europe at the end of February.
Features Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 (2018)
From China also comes news about the features of the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 (2018). These should be two very similar devices that will most likely differ only in screen size and minor features (such as water resistance certification). Let's start with the hardware compartment: under the screen we find a Snapdragon 835 SoC supported by 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of internal storage. This is the same technical card of the Nokia 8: the Finnish company has not opted for the new Snapdragon 845 chipset in order not to lose further time and get on the market before the beginning of next spring. The novelty is in the screen: the Nokia 9 and the Nokia 8 (2018) will have an 18:9 display, like all the top of the range devices released in this second part of 2017. The bezels will be very thin. The doubt remains on the size of the screen: rumors speak of a 5.5-inch panel, but it is very likely that the Nokia 9 will have a display of at least 6''.
In the back there will be a dual camera developed together with the German company Carl Zeiss, with a 12-megapixel sensor and the other 13-megapixel. Confirmed the Bothie feature already present on the Nokia 8, which allows you to take a picture using the front and rear cameras simultaneously. One difference between the two smartphones will concern water protection: the Nokia 8 (2018) will probably only receive an IP54 certification, while the Nokia 9 IP67 (which allows you to use it even underwater). The audio jack will be missing on both devices.
Price Nokia 9
The Nokia 9 is expected to be launched in two variants: one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, the other with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The price of the Nokia 9 is expected to start from around $550 and go up to $650. To know the cost of the smartphone in Europe will have to wait for the presentation at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona.
