Il nuovo processore di Qualcomm è destinato agli smartphone di fascia media per il gaming e supporta il 5G veloce
Il gigante dei processori per smartphone Qualcomm allarga la gamma di SoC compatibili con le nuove reti 5G: l’ultimo, appena annunciato, è lo Snapdragon 750G 5G, successore del 730G già a disposizione dei produttori di cellulari. Come il precedente, anche il nuovo processore è un modello di fascia media, destinato agli smartphone da gaming (come tutti gli Snapdragon con la “G" nel nome).
Il 750G di Snapdragon è un SoC medio, dalle buone prestazioni e dal prezzo abbordabile rispetto agli attuali top di gamma 865 e 865+, con i quali però condivide la possibilità di connettersi al 5G. Gaming e 5G, d’altronde, sono sempre più legati tra di loro e i gamer incalliti vogliono dispositivi con i quali giocare online in mobilità, senza rimpiangere troppo il PC o la console. The Snapdragon 750G, among other things, is also able to connect to millimeter waves, the so-called mmWave, that part of the 5G spectrum that offers the highest performance even if at the expense of the signal range.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G: technical characteristics
The new Snapdragon 750G 5G is a processor with 8 cores Kyro 570, with a maximum clock of 2.2 GHz. The integrated GPU is instead the Adreno 619, while the production process is 8nm, slightly less advanced but cheaper than the 7nm Snapdragon 865 that remains Qualcomm's top of the line 2020.
In comparison to the previous 730G the new 750G should offer a performance increase of at least 20% for the CPU and 10% for the GPU. The integrated 5G momem, thanks to millimeter wave support, has a theoretical maximum speed of 1.6 Gbps in 5G.
The power offered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G allows it to handle a single 192 MP photo sensor (which currently does not exist) or a photo compartment with multiple sensors, of course of lower resolution.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G: which smartphones will use it
The Snapdragon 750G is undoubtedly a candidate to take a big chunk of the mid-range smartphone market in the later part of 2020 and throughout 2021. Qualcomm, in fact, says it will be available to handset manufacturers by the end of the year.
It's predictable that all major manufacturers will offer at least one model equipped with this SoC, and one of them has already confirmed it: China's Xiaomi.
