The Chinese manufacturer is ready to launch three more "entry level" smartphones, costing less than 200 euros. Here are their technical specifications
After the presentation of the Redmi Note 9S, which joined the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro, now come three new low-cost smartphones from the Redmi 9 family: the Redmi 9A, Redmi 9C and Redmi 9. More than make happy its fans, however, this time Xiaomi/Redmi risks to make them deeply confused.
These are, it should be noted, rumors posted on Twitter by the very young Indian leaker Sudhanshu and it is not clear if and when these devices will arrive on the European market. As it is not clear, among other things, if they will be released also the respective versions equipped with NFC module for electronic payments, feature missing on the Note 9S (but present on the Note 9 and Note 9 Pro). Also from the rumors we learn that the price of these smartphones will be quite low: it starts from 100 euros and does not reach 200 in the richest version. Let's try to put together the information currently available to understand what you can buy at these prices.
Redmi 9: technical characteristics
Let's start with the model with superior features, the "smooth" Redmi 9. It will feature a MediaTek Helio G70 SoC with Mali-G52 GPU, flanked by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory expandable via microSD up to 512 GB. The screen will be a 6.53-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution (2,400×1,080 pixels). It will have four rear cameras: 13MP+8MP+5MP+2MP, with the last one definitely being a depth sensor.
It will have dual SIM slots, fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, light and proximity sensor. Connection and charging will be via USB-C and there will be a 3.5mm jack and infrared transmitter. The battery will be very capacious: 5,000 mAh. The price will be around 160-180 euros.
Redmi 9C: technical characteristics
Descending a step in the new Redmi 9 range we find the Redmi 9C. It will feature MediaTek Helio G35 SoC with Mali-G31 GPU, 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage (expandable up to 512 GB). The two SIM slots, fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor, proximity, USB-C port, 3.5mm jack and IR transmitter remain. The battery is also the same: 5,000 mAh.
The rear camera department changes instead: 13 MP+2MP. The screen size remains 6.53 inches but the resolution drops to 1,600×720 pixels. According to Sudhanshu it will come in two versions: one without NFC but with an extra photo sensor (5MP) and one with NFC and with the aforementioned photo department. The price will be about 130-150 euros.
Redmi 9A: technical characteristics
The cheapest device in the new Redmi 9 family will be the Redmi 9A. It will feature MediaTek Helio G25 SoC with Mali-G31 GPU. The other specs are almost the same as the 9C, but there will be a single 13MP rear camera, and the internal storage will be 32GB. The price range estimated by Sudhanshu is 100-120 euros.
