In recent months, Sky's schedule has undergone many changes: some channels have been deleted, while new ones have entered to enrich the offer of the satellite broadcaster. Between May and July 2020 were deleted fourteen channels, while three are the new entries. The reason is the same for all: Sky and the publisher of the various channels have not found an agreement for the renewal and therefore the license has expired. Economic reasons, especially in a historical period in which the explosion of the pandemic has contracted the advertising investments of the big companies, main source of sustenance for this kind of channels. In the list there are also two historical channels of the satellite broadcaster's programming: Disney Junior and Disney Channel. In this case, however, the problem is not economic, but a precise choice of Disney that wants to bet everything on its platform of video on demand (Disney +). Here are the channels eliminated from the Sky schedule in the first months of 2020.
Sky, the list of the fourteen channels eliminated
Following the Customer Service page dedicated to programming, you can see all the changes made to the Sky schedule in recent months. From the first of May to the first of July, fourteen channels were cancelled, while three made their debut.
The first to be "switched off" were Disney Channel and Disney Junior. In this case, the decision was made directly by Disney, which no longer wants to broadcast its content outside of its proprietary platforms. Il 2 maggio, invece, è stata la volta di TeenNick, MTV Hits e MTV Rocks. I contenuti trasmessi su TeenNick, canale dedicato agli adolescenti, sono stati in parte trasferiti su Nickelodeon.
Il primo luglio c’è stata una nuova tornata di “fine trasmissioni" per alcuni canali che fanno parte del palinsesto di Sky. In totale sono otto:
- Man-ga
- Fox Life
- Lei
- Dove
- Premium Cinema
- Premium Cinema Energy
- Premium Cinema Emotion
- Premium Cinema Comedy.
Alcuni di questi canali avevano anche una versione +1, anche lei eliminata. Il motivo è lo stesso: scaduta la licenza dei diritti a Sky. Diverso il motivo, invece, che ha portato alla cancellazione dei quattro canali di Premium Cinema: in questo caso si è trattato di un cambiamento di strategia che ha portato alla creazione di tre nuovi canali.
Sky, addio a 14 canali: cosa cambia per gli abbonati
Nel caso in cui gli abbonati avevano salvato sul loro decoder alcuni contenuti on demand trasmessi su uno dei canali cancellati, la visione sarà disponibile fino alla data indicata al momento del download. Per quanto riguarda la sintonizzazione, gli utenti non devono fare nulla, dato che il palinsesto viene aggiornato in automatico.
Sky, tre nuovi canali: quali sono
Oltre alla cancellazione di 14 canali, c’è stato anche il debutto di tre nuovi nel palinsesto di Sky:
- Premium Cinema 1
- Premium Cinema 2
- Premium Cinema 3
Come si può intuire dal nome, si tratta dei tre canali che hanno sostituito quelli precedenti di Premium Cinema. The vision is reserved only for those who have a subscription to the Cinema package and Sky HD.
