Launched in December 2018, Brawl Stars has become in a few weeks the most downloaded video game from the App Store and the Google Play Store. The app was developed by the guys from Supercell, a Finnish software house that became famous for Clash Royale Clash of Clains, two of the biggest hits of recent years, apps that are able to earn hundreds of millions of dollars every year thanks to in-app purchases.
Brawl Stars has little in common with the other two hits of the Finnish software house: it is an online shooter that takes its cue from other successful genres such as MOBAs (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) and Fortnite-style battle royale. Players can choose from about twenty characters with characteristics that are all different from each other and that are unlocked as time goes by. The more you play, the more gems you earn and the further you get in the game with the possibility of unlocking power-ups and new characters. The advancement in the game is very balanced and you don't have to pay in order to win immediately. There are four game modes that you unlock as you progress through the levels.

How to play Brawl Stars
One of the reasons for the success of Brawl Stars is the very simple yet fun gameplay. To control your brawler (the character) you must use the two sticks present in the corners of your smartphone. The virtual left stick is used to move, while the virtual right strick is used to aim and shoot. The gameplay is extremely intuitive and after the first few hours of play you can get familiar with the mechanism. The gunplay system is also carefully designed, with each weapon having a different power and loading time.
Brawl Stars game modes
There are four game modes in total, and they unlock as you progress through the levels. The first one that players will face is Brawl Stars: the objective is to conquer all ten gems on the map without getting killed by enemies. The challenges are faced 3 vs 3. Survival mode, however, is the classic battle royale that has made the fortunes of Fortnite: you are thrown into a map with ten other players and the winner is whoever manages to survive. The Robbery mode is another 3 vs 3 where the one who manages to make a greater number of kills wins. Finally, there's Footbrawl mode, a reinterpretation of soccer where whoever gets to two goals first wins.
