The Mobile World Congress 2019 is the most important fair dedicated to telephony. Here are the smartphones that will be presented in Barcelona
One week to go and the Mobile World Congress 2019 will begin, the most important world fair dedicated to the world of telephony, but not only. All the world's leading smartphone manufacturers will meet in Barcelona to present their first devices of the year. Compared to previous years, MWC 2019 will be full of novelties: we will see the first flexible smartphones and the first phones with 5G support.
These are two big news for the mobile world. After years of immobility, finally users and industry experts will be able to get their hands on truly innovative devices. Flexible smartphones seem to be the future towards which the entire industry will head: the first company to present a foldable device will be Samsung, but it won't be at MWC 2019, but in San Francisco on February 20, a few days before the start of the fair. It will be, instead, Huawei to present its flexible smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2019 (appointment on February 24). As for 5G smartphones, the list seems to be very long: OnePlus will bring a prototype and so will Huawei, Xiaomi and all the most important brands. Here's what we will see at Mobile World Congress 2019 (February 25 - February 28).
Samsung
Everyone hoped that the South Korean company would present at Mobile World Congress 2019 the new range of Galaxy S10, but it will not be so. As you know, Samsung has organized an event in San Francisco where it will present in addition to the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ and also its first foldable smartphone: the Galaxy F.
On the new range of Galaxy S10 we now know everything. They will be three smartphones that will be characterized by the hole on the screen, will have a top-of-the-line photographic compartment and the display bezels will be very narrow. On the Galaxy F, however, very few rumors have been leaked so far.
What will Samsung present then at MWC 2019? Probably new smartwatches and a new tablet that will have to challenge the seventh-generation iPad.
Huawei
The P30 will not be the star of Mobile World Congress 2019 for Huawei. The Chinese company's new range of top-of-the-line smarthones will be unveiled in March at an ad hoc event. Huawei, however, has already announced what it will present at the Spanish fair: the foldable smartphone. Huawei is also ready to show its first flexible smartphone, but so far no information has been leaked about what it might look like and its name. One week and we will find out what the device will look like.
Sony
Sony will be one of the most active companies at Mobile World Congress 2019. According to the latest rumors a couple of new devices will be presented. There will definitely be the new Sony Xperia XZ4, a top-of-the-line smartphone that will feature a 6.5-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a body made entirely of glass. On board we will find the Snapdragon 855 chipset supported by at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In the rear will find place a 48-megapixel photo sensor. In addition to the version with "big" screen, Sony may also present the Xperia XZ4 Compact.
LG
LG confirmed its presence at Mobile World Congress 2019 and announced that it will present a smartphone with support for 5G. But it didn't reveal the name. From the rumors in our possession it should be LG G8, but some reports talk about the LG V50 ThinQ. The only certain news concerns the characteristics of the device: on board there will be the Snapdragon 855 and 8GB of RAM. The screen will have a 4K resolution, while the battery will be 4,000mAh. In the front there will be a ToF sensor for 3D face scanning.
OnePlus
OnePlus lands in Barcelona. For the Chinese company it will be one of the first appearances at the fair. As announced by OnePlus, the company will not present a new smartphone, but will show a prototype 5G phone. It could be a preview of the OnePlus 7 that will arrive between the end of May and the beginning of June.
Nokia
Great expectations for Nokia. The Finnish company will present at the Mobile World Congress the Nokia 9, a smartphone awaited for several months and that will finally see the light. The device will have a unique feature: a rear photo compartment with five cameras. This is an absolute novelty for the world of telephony and there is great curiosity about how it will work. The device should mount the Snapdragon 845 with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The screen will be 6 inches with rather noticeable bezels. The fingerprint sensor will be placed under the display.
Xiaomi
The Chinese company will present in Barcelona the new Xiaomi Mi 9. The smartphone will make its official debut on February 20 in China and then on February 24 it will also be shown in Europe. The Xiaomi Mi 9 has top-of-the-line features: Snapdraon 855, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Versions with more RAM and storage space will be available. The screen will be 6.4 inches with FullHD+ resolution. The smartphone will feature a small teardrop notch at the top of the display. At the back, there will be a triple camera with 48-megapixel main sensor and ToF sensor to measure depth. Fingerprint sensor under the screen and 4,000mAh battery.
HTC
Disappearing from the radar, HTC is trying to relaunch itself at Mobile World Congress 2019. But it's still not very clear what the Taiwanese company will present at the Spanish event. A new top of the line? Or a mid-range smartphone? We will only find out in a week's time.
