WhatsApp, coming verified accounts for companies and VIPs

Messages sent by users will be recognizable through a yellow background. The feature will be released gradually

Like on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, verified accounts are also coming to WhatsApp. This is what announced by the company itself, through a post published on its official website. The new feature, at the moment available only for a few users, is intended for companies.

This is one of the many features that the company acquired by Facebook is experimenting lately and that shows how WhatsApp is increasingly pushing itself towards business. After introducing a few weeks ago, still in beta, the ability to send money, the most popular instant messaging app is also testing verified accounts. The service servesĀ users to be sure that the contact with whom they are communicating actually belongs to a company account. WhatsApp will check the trustworthiness of the account and confirm its veracity with a green icon that will appear next to the profile name.

How it works

Verified accounts of companies, therefore, will be accompanied by a symbol, which serves to identify the sender with certainty. If a user receives a message from a company, he will be able to distinguish it, compared to one arrived from a "traditional" contact, thanks to messages contained in a yellow background and sent by WhatsApp.

Exactly as it happens with other contacts, if the number of the company is stored in the address book, on WhatsApp it will be visible according to the name chosen by the user. Conversely, the company account will be identifiable by the name chosen by the company.

Users who don't intend to be bothered by a company account will always have the option to block it.

As the WhatsApp post states, for now this is only a pilot study, tested with a few companies. There are no exact indications as to when verified accounts will be officially released, nor is it given to know how the service will work in detail.
