TV series Maradona - Sogno Benedetto: la trama
The TV series on Diego Armando Maradona traces in an accurate way the sixty years of life of the soccer talent: from the humble origins in the small town of Fiorito in Argentina, arriving at the beginning of his career in Barcelona. Of course, there are also the fateful moments linked to the world of soccer, such as his arrival in Naples, when thanks to his talent and charisma he managed to win not only the hearts of the fans, but also the esteem and affection of the entire city.
Still today, Maradona is remembered as the champion, the person capable of uniting and raising the fortunes of an entire community. In these days we celebrate the thirty-second anniversary of his famous warm-up during the return match of the Uefa Cup, which saw Napoli clash with Bayern Munich. On the notes of Life is Life, before the match begins, Maradona steals the scene to everyone with a workout that encapsulates all his talent.
This is just one of the moments of Maradona's intense life told within the TV series. The series also narrates the key role of the Pibe de Oro in leading his national team to win the World Cup in Mexico in 1986.
TV series Maradona - Sogno Benedetto: the cast
Three actors play Maradona in the different phases of his life Nazareno Casero (Chronicle of an Escape), Juan Palomino (Magnificent 70) and Nicolas Goldschmidt (Supermax).
In addition, in the cast we find Mercedes Morán, Pepe Monje and Peter Lanzani but especially Julieta Cardinali and Laura Esquivel, who play the role of Claudia Villafañe, Diego Armando Maradona's wife since 1989 and from whom he divorced ten years later. The ex-wife of the champion, among other things, through her lawyers had tried to block the publication of Sogno Benedetto, believing that her image had been damaged by the story told by the scriptwriters.
The series is written by Guillermo Salmerón and Silvina Olschansky. The direction is entrusted in part to showrunner Alejandro Aimetta, who was in charge of the episodes shot in Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay; Roger Gual and Edoardo De Angelis directed the episodes set in Spain and Italy respectively (here an in-depth look at the locations in Maradona's splendid Naples). The executive producers are Francisco Cordero, Liliana Moyano, Mari Urdaneta, Ricardo Coeto and Luis Balaguer.
