LG G7 yes, LG G7 no. After Mobile World Congress 2018 the future of the G7 is even more shrouded in fog. Reports that came out before the start of Mobile World Congress 2018 gave almost certain that the South Korean company would cancel the smartphone. The goal is to focus on a few devices at a time and the G7 would have been scrapped to make way for the V35/V40 (name yet to be confirmed).
But after Mobile World Congress 2018 everything is back in question. In fact, the journalist Evan Blass has published on his Twitter account a video recorded at MWC 2018, where a prototype of an LG smartphone is shown and in the back is the name G7. Tutto questo fa pensare che l’azienda stia lavorando sul dispositivo e che potrebbe fare il suo debutto a breve, dato che il prototipo era perfettamente funzionante. E dalle immagini pubblicate salta immediatamente all’occhio la presenza del notch, la rientranza nella parte superiore dello smartphone lanciata da Apple con l’iPhone X e che quest’anno si sta diffondendo sempre di più.

Dalle poche notizie trapelate dal Mobile World Congress 2018 è stato possibile tratteggiare anche la scheda tecnica del LG G7. A bordo troviamo lo Snapdragon 845 con 6GB di RAM e 64GB di memoria interna. Il G7 Plus avrà le stesse caratteristiche tecniche, ma con 128GB di memoria interna. The screen FullVision will be 6.1 inches with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels: not a true 4K, but definitely one of the best displays on the market. The aspect ratio should be 19.5:9, slightly elongated than normal due to the presence of the notch and bezels reduced to the bone: the thickness of the bottom edge has been reduced by 50% and even the side bezels will be invisible or almost. The Korean manufacturer has provided further details on the type of panel used for the screen: it is an LCD Super Bright Display, which allows to reach brightness of 1,000 nits (unit of "measure" of luminance) and offers a viewing experience similar to that of OLED.
Interesting news (and officially confirmed by the same South Korean company) also concern the audio compartment. Basterà poggiare lo smartphone su una superficie solida per attivare “l’effetto Boombox” e poter ascoltare musica e tracce audio di qualunque genere come se si utilizzasse uno speaker Bluetooth portatile.
La batteria sarà da 3.000mAh, mentre lo LG G7 ThinQ sarà resistente ad acqua e polvere (certificazione IP68). Per quanto riguarda l’audio, dovrebbe essere presente una particolare tecnologia che amplifica il suono quando lo smartphone viene appoggiato su un tavolo.

L’azienda sudcoreana ha sempre puntato molto sulla qualità delle immagini scattate dai propri dispositivi. LG G7 avrà una doppia fotocamera posteriore con sensore principale da 16 Megapixel e apertura focale di 1.6 e la possibilità di effettuare video in HDR10. L’obiettivo secondario da 16 Megapixel sarà grandangolare con angolo di copertura fino a 107 gradi. 8 Megapixel front camera.
