Samsung is reportedly working on five versions of the Galaxy S10: three with 4G technology and two with 5G modems. Prices will reach up to 1500 euros
Not one, not two, not three, not four, but as many as five. This is the number of versions that Samsung will produce of the Galaxy S10, the first top of the range that the South Korean company will launch in early 2019. The news comes from the Netherlands, where a website dedicated to technology has published a summary table with all the Galaxy S10 models that should be launched by Samsung.
In addition to the three models we have already talked about in the past (Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+), two other devices are added. The peculiarity of both is the support for 5G technology, the new Network standard that from 2020 will cover most of Europe, including Italy. The two 5G versions of the Galaxy S10 should also have different features than the other three models: according to the latest rumors, the screen will be 6.7 inches (larger than that of the Galaxy S10+) and four rear cameras (against the two of the Galaxy S10). Features from the real top of the range that, however, will also increase the price, which is unlikely to be less than 1500 euros.
Galaxy S10, how will the five models
Samsung seems to have chosen a very interesting market strategy: to increase the number of versions of the same device to cover more market segments. The Galaxy S10 Lite is the best example of this: it will be a device with a good technical card, but it will not have some premium features such as the supersonic fingerprint sensor under the screen (the sensor will be lateral). The smartphone will have a lower price and will be aimed at a group of users who do not want to get to spend 1000 euros for a smartphone.
With the Galaxy S10 it will go up a level: 6.1-inch screen, dual rear camera and ultrasonic sensor under the screen to unlock the smartphone. The device will be the benchmark for all those who want to buy a top of the range Samsung. The Galaxy S10+ will have a larger 6.4-inch screen and most importantly a triple rear camera with a dedicated sensor for panoramic photos. There will be at least 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage on board. Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ will have a 4G module.
The other two versions of the smartphone will be aimed at premium users who are looking for devices that use the latest technologies on the market. The Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S10 Bolt (version that will be marketed by Verizon, a U.S. telephone operator) will have a 6.7-inch screen, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
All five smartphones will have only two things in common: the Exynos 9820 processor and the design with the hole in the screen where the front camera will be inserted.
How much will the Galaxy S10 5G cost
As we have seen, the Galaxy S10 5G will have a technical card of a premium smartphone and those who want it will have to shell out an amount close to 1500 euros. The device should not be presented together with the Galaxy S10 at Mobile World Congress 2019 in February, but in an ad hoc event in the following months.
