Sony's new Xperia series is now in the home stretch. Although there is still a halo of mystery around the upcoming products that will be part of the range, the manufacturer has set the launch event in the calendar, live streaming, for next April 14 at 9:30 am on the official channel on the YouTube platform.
Despite the choice of the Japanese company to maintain absolute secrecy on the smartphones that will make up the new line, there have been several leaks spread on the network that have tried to anticipate the names of the next models protagonists of the launch event. Among these, the devices that have collected more support and greater curiosity among the public of experts and fans were Xperia 1 III, Xperia 10 III and Xperia 5 III, which could also add the new Xperia Compact. Given the very tight schedule that separates it from the presentation, it is not out of the question that Sony decides to hold on to the secret, staking everything on the surprise factor.
Xperia 1 III, likely technical specifications
This could be the new flagship smartphone from Sony, given the specifications reported on Weibo by a leaker and collected by the site TechRadar. According to ZACKBUKS, this is the nickname of the user, Sony Xperia 1 III should mount as Soc a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, one of the most popular among the top of the range of 2021.
To this, then, we add the combination 12GB of RAM/256GB of storage space, a display Oled 6.5 inch with 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and aspect ratio of 21:9. Even the battery, if confirmed, will be quite powerful: we talk about 5000mAh with support for 65W fast charging.
As for the camera, however, to anticipate an interesting detail was OnLeaks; with a render of the periscope lens has outlined one of the key aspects of the photo / video compartment. The anticipation was later confirmed by the Weibo leaker, who added that the lens should be produced by the Cyber-shot Sony. To complete the likely module, there would then be a wide-angle lens with 64MP sensor, accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle.
Xperia Compact, the new iPhone 12 Mini?
It is another of the proposals that could peep during the event and, according to fans, Xperia Compact is already the rival of iPhone 12 Mini with Android operating system. The last smartphone "Compact", Xperia XZ2, now dates back to 2018; many, over the years, had hoped for a return but the rumors that would have it destined exclusively for the Japanese market have helped to dampen some of the enthusiasm.
Already there is talk of the likely features of this model: Snapdragon 700 processor, 5.5-inch screen - slightly higher than that of the Apple counterpart -, dual rear camera with 13MP main sensor and 8MP front. In line with the past, in the renders spread on the network the body of the phone appears compact, with a 21:9 screen, fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and 3.5mm mini-jack slot for wired headphones.
