The Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be officially presented on August 29: here are the features and the price of the two smartphones
Just two days before the event for the official launch of the new Redmi Note 8 scheduled for next August 29, Xiaomi uncovers the cards by publishing a surprise tweet containing all the official technical features of the Pro version. This confirms the rumors of last week that, based on a series of images leaked online, gave for certain the presence of two different versions of the low-cost phone produced by the Chinese giant: Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro.
The two smartphones will be mid-range with quite different features. The normal version should mount a Snapdragon 665 processor, while the Pro model will be dedicated to gaming lovers and will have the new MediaTek Helio G90T processor on board. After several years Xiaomi returns to mount a MediaTek processor on one of its flagship devices, a very particular choice that could prove to be appropriate. For the Pro version will also be available accessories designed specifically for gaming enthusiasts, such as a gamepad that can attach to the sides of the device.
Redmi Note 8 Pro: technical specifications
The Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The front screen accommodates a small teardrop notch and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. As anticipated, the chipset will be the new MediaTek Helio G90T, designed specifically for gaming and supported by 6 or 8 GB of RAM with 64 or 128 GB of internal memory expandable thanks to a microSD. The battery is 4,500 mAh and features 18W fast charging. Completing the Redmi Note 8 Pro's specs are the NFC chip, infrared, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack port and a fingerprint sensor. Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 as the operating system. Three colors are available: Ice Jade, Fritillary White and Electro-optic Ash.
Redmi Note 8 Pro: the photographic compartment
The photographic compartment will be the strong point of the new Redmi Note 8 Pro. Confirmed the rumors that indicated the possible presence on the low-cost Chinese smartphone of a 64-megapixel photo sensor. The new Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a total of four cameras: in addition to the 64 MP Samsung GW1 sensor and f/1.7 aperture, there is an 8 MegaPixel wide-angle lens, a 2 MegaPixel macro and, finally, a 2 MegaPixel sensor dedicated to the depth of field. The camera is positioned vertically in the center of the body along with the three vertically aligned sensors. The fourth sensor is located just below the LED flash, while the fingerprint scanner has been placed a little lower than the three cameras. Finally, 20 MegaPixel front camera.
Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro: pricing
The prices for the European market have not been announced yet, but you can already get an idea by taking a peek at the Chinese ones leaked online. The Redmi Note 8 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is expected to cost around €226, and €263 for the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage variant, while the price of the 6GB of RAM and 64GB model is unknown. Again, this is not yet official information and for this reason to be taken with caution while waiting for the event scheduled for August 29.
