Samsung Galaxy S10, iPhone XI, Huawei P30, OnePlus 7, Galaxy F: here's what we should expect from the smartphones launched in 2019
Next year looks very interesting for the world of telephony: after a 2018 that saw the release of dozens of identical smartphones (all with the notch at the top of the screen), in 2019 will be launched devices with a different form factor. From the rumors that have come out in recent months, companies seem finally oriented to make smartphones with the screen that entirely occupies the front of the device.
To insert the front camera, several solutions are being patented: Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo have already launched "full-screen" smartphones with a retractable camera that appears only when needed. Huawei and Samsung, instead, are thinking of launching phones with the "hole" (the chosen ones should be the Galaxy S10 and the Huawei P30): the front camera is inserted inside the screen, creating a particular effect, as if there was a hole. Another solution that we will be able to see in 2019 is that of smartphones with dual screens: in the front there is a display that occupies all the available space, while in the back a second panel turns on when you need to take a selfie.
The 2019 will also be the year of the first 5G smartphones. Many companies are already working to implement a 5G router inside their devices, favored by the fact that the new top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 processor natively supports the super-fast network. The first to announce that they are working on 5G smartphones was OnePlus, and the first device with this technology should be out by the end of 2019: it could be the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7T. Finally, the latest news in the world of telephony are foldable smartphones. It is now at least two years that we talk about the possibility of making smartphones with a flexible screen and finally it seems that their time has come. Samsung has already shown in photos the Galaxy F that should make its debut at CES 2019 in January or at the latest in February 2019 during the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona. Here are all the most anticipated smartphones coming out in 2019.
Samsung Galaxy S10
The Korean company will unveil its first top-of-the-line of 2019 in February during Mobile World Congress. There is still uncertainty about the date, but it should be between February 20 and 25. The Galaxy S10 will arrive in three different versions, which will differ in screen size and features. The Galaxy S10 Lite will have a 5.8-inch screen, the Galaxy S10 a 6.1-inch panel, and finally the Galaxy S10+ will feature a 6.4-inch display. All three, however, will be united by the "hole" at the top of the screen: to reduce the upper and lower bezels, the camera will be placed directly inside the display. On board we will find the new Exynos 9820 chipset, comparable in power and functionality to the Snapdragon 855. The smartphone should also support 5G, becoming in fact one of the first super-fast smartphones on the market. The three smartphones will also have a different photographic compartment: the Lite version will have "only" a dual rear camera, while the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus should mount a triple camera, as already seen on the new A7.
Huawei P30
Also Huawei is working on the new version of its top of the range: the P30 and P30 Pro. After the success achieved last year with the P20, the Chinese company will continue in the same vein and will focus everything on the photographic compartment. From the latest rumors, the P30 Pro will have as many as four rear cameras a dual LED flash that will allow you to take great photos even in low light conditions. The main sensor will be 48 megapixels. On board the Huawei P30 we will find the Kirin 980 processor, the same already seen on the Mate 20. The P30 Pro should also follow the same philosophy adopted by Samsung: in the front there will be the "hole" for the front camera to give more space to the display. On the date of presentation there are still doubts: they could be launched during the MWC 2018, or the following month in an event organized ad hoc.
iPhone 2019
It is still too early to make predictions on the iPhones that will be released in 2019: the only thing certain is the date of presentation, set as usual for the second week of September. Apple, after twisting its smartphones with the iPhone X, seems to have lost the innovative charge that had distinguished it. And for 2019 there don't seem to be big changes in sight: the 2019 iPhone, whose name is still a mystery (iPhone XI?) should be very similar to the iPhone XS, both in form factor and in features. Uncertainty also regarding 5G network support.
OnePlus 7
OnePlus is no longer a novelty in the world of smartphones: the Chinese company has now made a name for itself for the quality of its devices and for its lower prices compared to those of its main competitors. For 2019, OnePlus is ready to launch its first 5G smartphone: to announce it was the same CEO of the company on its social profiles. In addition to the 5G modem, the OnePlus 7 should feature the "hole" in the front and a screen with a 6.4-inch diagonal. On board we should find the Snapdragon 855 with at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The presentation date is set between the end of May and the beginning of June.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is already available on the market, but a new version with 5G support is expected for 2019. The Mi Mix 3 is one of the most interesting smartphones seen in this 2018: full-screen design, with the camera that appears by sliding the rear half of the smartphone upwards. As it used to be done with the old Nokia phones. The new version is expected to be available in early 2019 and will feature a 6.4-inch screen, Snapdragon 855 processor, 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Honor 5G smartphone
Also Honor is ready to join the 5G smartphone race. The Chinese company has leaked that it is already ready to launch a device that supports the 5G network on the market, but it will wait until the next few months to make it official. The name of the device is still unknown, but it will most likely be the Honor View 20 or the Honor 20. The device is expected to be launched during the upcoming CES 2019 in Las Vegas that will be held in early January.
Sony Xperia XZ4
Sony's goal is to increase its market share of the smartphone world during 2019. And to do so, it is ready to launch its first 5G smartphone. The Sony Xperia XZ4 is expected at the end of February with the presentation taking place during Mobile World Congress 2019. The smartphone will feature the Snapdragon 855 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It could also debut the new 48 Megapxiel photo sensor that Sony has been working on in recent months.
