Il governo Draghi ha ufficialmente sospeso il programma Cashback e ora in molti si chiedono se anche la Lotteria degli Scontrini è a rischio stop. There are many rumors circulating in these days about a possible suspension of the Lottery, which is part of the Cashless Italia Plan of the previous government.
The objective of the new government is to redirect the funds dedicated to Cashback and Super Cashback to the introduction of new social shock absorbers. For this reason, Decree 99/2021 of 30 June only mentions suspension for the second semester of Cashback, i.e. from 1 July to 31 December 2021. In addition, as we explain here, also change the timing for refunds of Super Cashback, which will not come by August but by November 30, due to the recounts of microtransactions of the rascals. Returning to the Lottery of the Scontrini, in the coming days we will know what will be the decision of the government, meanwhile the extractions proceed.
Lottery of the Scontrini: what is it and how it works
The Lottery of the Scontrini is one of the initiatives of the Cashless Italy Plan launched in 2021 by the Conte government to combat tax evasion and encourage users to use electronic payments. The operation is simple: each user can generate a lottery code to be associated with their tax code and to be presented every time they make a purchase at the checkout by paying with digital methods, such as credit or debit cards. Every euro of expenditure, a virtual lottery ticket is generated that entitles the user to participate in the draws that are weekly, monthly and annual.
Excluded from the generation of virtual tickets are purchases of less than one euro, those made online and all payments at business, art or profession.
Lottery of receipts at risk of being stopped by the government
After the decree of June 30 that sanctioned the suspension of Cashback and Super Cashback at least for the second semester, now many are wondering what will happen to the Lottery of receipts. The intentions of the Draghi government seem to be to move towards a stop of the initiative, as had already been requested by Codacons last March.
Carlo Rienzi, president of Codacons, had explained in a note: "The debut of the Lottery of receipts was marked by problems and delays. Too many merchants had their cash registers out of date and were therefore unable to allow consumers to participate in the contest: this means that not all users can now access the Lottery, with a clear violation of the right to participate in prize contests that, by law, must put all subjects in the same conditions of access to winnings".
In the absence of a final decision by the government, the Lottery of the Scontrini at the moment continues regularly, as well as the draws that give chances to win rich prizes to both citizens and merchants. All that remains is to wait for new updates in the coming weeks, aware that even this initiative could end soon.
