After RAI's announcement, now comes the list of Mediaset channels that will not be visible from October on old generation TVs: here's all the info you need to continue watching them
Digital Terrestrial: this time it's serious and the switch off is really coming. At least the first one, the one that consists in abandoning the very old audio-video encoding Mpeg-2 in favor of the newer (but not very new: it's from 1998) encoding Mpeg-4. After the announcement of RAI, now comes the list of Mediaset channels affected by the switch off.
Exactly as happened with RAI, Mediaset channels have chosen to start from the less important channels in terms of share and audience, leaving instead in Mpeg-2 all those most viewed. Questo perché, lo ricordiamo, con il cambio di codifica alcuni televisori non potranno più sintonizzare i canali: si tratta degli apparecchi (TV ma anche decoder esterni, ovviamente) che non riescono ad elaborare il flusso video compresso in Mpeg-4 e che non sono compatibili con la risoluzione HD. Nell’epoca del 4K economico verrebbe da pensare che TV del genere non esistano più, ma nelle case degli italiani ce ne sono ancora un bel po’ e vengono usati come TV secondari, aggiuntivi alla TV principale del salotto. Queste TV potranno essere rottamate per usufruire del doppio Bonus TV del Governo.
Canali Mediaset: cosa cambia e quando
Lo switch off dei canali Mediaset dal vecchio al nuovo codec Mpeg avverrà a partire dal 20 ottobre. Ad essere interessati sono 6 canali:
- Boing Plus
- Italia 2
- Radio 105
- R101 TV
- TGCom24
- Virgin Radio TV
Non subiranno variazioni, almeno inizialmente, gli altri canali Mediaset:
- Canale 5
- Italia 1
- Rete 4
- Iris
- Canale 20
- Cine34
- Focus
- La 5
- Mediaset Extra
- Top Crime
- Boing
- Cartoonito
Come è facile notare, l’unico canale Mediaset con ascolti elevati che cambierà codifica è TGCom24. Tutti i canali generalisti e “semi-generalisti“, invece, resteranno visibili a tutti. In ogni caso, anche chi ha una TV di ultima generazione perfettamente compatibile con l’Mpeg-4 e l’HD, sarà costretto a risintonizzare tutti i canali per continuare a vedere le emittenti interessate al cambio di codifica.
I Bonus TV
Il passaggio dei primi canali RAI e Mediaset dalla codifica Mpeg-2 alla Mpeg-4 renderà inutilizzabili alcuni televisori, che andranno sostituiti con apparecchiature più moderne. It is now impossible to find televisions on the market that are not compatible with the second generation Digital Terrestrial Television (DVB-T2), so it is very difficult to make a mistake: you just have to be careful to discard those that are not compatible with HD, but they are now almost impossible to find.
The Government has made available not one but two Bonus TVs to help Italians economically bear the costs of the switch off. The first contribution, up to 100 euros, is destined to families with ISEE up to 20,000 euros while the second (cumulative with the first) is for everyone, without income limits, and can reach 150 euros but foresees the compulsory scrapping of a device (TV or decoder) not compatible with DVB-T2.
