The launch of Fortnite's Season 11 Chapter 2 knocked out the Internet. The video of a black hole has garnered over 10 million views
Millions of people fixated on watching a black hole. So far nothing exceptional, if it were not that the live broadcast of the "black hole" is transmitted from the official profiles on social Fortnite. And the black hole is not real, but made in computer graphics. Since 20:00 on October 13, 2019 , Epic Games is broadcasting the live feed of a black hole, capable of capturing the attention of millions of fans.
On Twitch there are more than 2 million views, with more than 200,000 users connected at the same time. On YouTube the numbers are even more impressive: over 5 million views and the counter keeps growing. What is all this hype due to? Very simple: Fortnite is about to start a new chapter in its history (Season 11 Chapter 2), with a new map, new features and maybe even new characters. The anticipation from users was so high that in some cases they knocked out some internet services. Last night many complained about problems with Twitch (video streaming platform), YouTube and even with the PlayStation Network. Problems that were resolved during the evening.
Fortnite Chapter 2: Launch slowed down the Web
Fortnite Season 11 Chapter 2 has made history even before being officially launched. It is the first video game to slow down the Web and create disruption and problems on the evening of October 13, 2019. The number of users following Fortnite's black hole live broadcast was so high that it put a strain on YouTube and Twitch servers, which are usually able to withstand the impact of millions of connected users at the same time.
After 12 hours of live broadcast, Fortnite is still showing the video with the black hole, a sign that the work to kick off Season 11 Chapter 2 is taking longer than expected. Despite this, the number of users connected to the live broadcast of the black hole does not tend to drop.
The code for Fortnite's secret minigame
For those who are in Fortnite withdrawal, Epic Games has made for them a minigame hidden inside the live broadcast of the black hole. It is, however, a minigame that is activated by knowing only the "key" to start it. To play you must press on the controller these keys: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start. Within a few seconds a Space Invaders-style mini-game will start. Have fun!
If you have problems with Fortnite, here are the reasons why the game doesn't work.
