Samsung makes the new Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus official. Mid-range devices with premium features, such as the Infinity Display screen. Coming in January
After appearing in photos and videos, Samsung has decided to make official the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+, which will probably make their debut during CES 2018, the international trade show dedicated to electronics held every year in Las Vegas.
The South Korean company has decided to change course and name to its mid-range smartphone. Not the classic designation Galaxy A3-5-7 followed by the year in which it was produced, but make only two devices very similar to each other, replacing the 3, 5 and 7, the year of production. And so for 2018 the name of the smartphone is Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+, following what has already been done with the Galaxy S8. For its mid-range Samsung has opted for premium features combining them with a good technical compartment. There is an Infinity Display screen with FullHD+ resolution, a dual front-facing camera and an all-aluminum body.
In Italy, only the Galaxy A8 will be available, while the larger version will be destined for the Asian market, at least for the time being. The Galaxy A8 will be available for purchase from mid-January at a price of 529 euros.
Features Galaxy A8
The first feature that immediately jumps out at you is the Infinity Display screen. This is the first time Samsung mounts this panel on a non-top-of-the-line device. The goal in the coming years is to integrate premium features within devices dedicated to the mid-range. And the Infinity Display screen is the first step of this new policy adopted by Samsung. The Galaxy A8 has a 5.6-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and resolution 2220×1080 pixels. The design is borderless with minimal bezels present at the top and bottom. Under the display we find an octa-core Exynos 7885 chipset (2.2GHZ Dualcore + 1.6GHz Esacore), supported by 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal memory (expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card).
The Galaxy A8 features a dual front camera with features dedicated exclusively to selfies. The two front sensors are 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel with a 1.9 focal aperture. The rear camera is single and is 16 Megapixel with a 1.7 focal aperture. The smartphone has received an IP68 certification which makes it water resistant and dust resistant. The device integrates all sensors (with the fingerprint sensor present under the camera). The Galaxy A8 supports the Gear VR virtual reality visor (the first Galaxy A to be VR compatible). The battery is 3000mAh. The body is completely made of aluminum.
Price and availability in Italy Galaxy A8

Features Galaxy A8+
Hardware and photographic compartment identical to the "little brother", battery and screen larger. This is how you can sum up the features of the Galaxy A8+. Samsung has chosen the same strategy as the Galaxy S8: to make two devices very similar to each other, which differ in minimal features. The smartphone mounts the octa-core Exynos 7885 chipset, 4/6GB of RAM 32/64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card). The screen is 6 inches with 2220×1080 pixels resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Dual front camera (with 16 Megapixel and 8 Megapixel sensors), while behind we find a single photo sensor (16 Megapixel). The battery is 3500mAh.
The Galaxy S8+ will not arrive in Italy, but will only be destined for the Asian market.
