The Galaxy Fold will make its market debut on September 18, but not in Italy. Solved the technical problems found in April. Price above 2000€
Finally here we are, the long-awaited moment seems to have arrived: everything is ready for the launch of the Galaxy Fold, the first foldable device made by the South Korean giant. After being announced last February, Samsung's foldable smartphone was never officially released on the market due to problems related to the extreme fragility of its innovative OLED display.
All technical issues, however, have been resolved and Samsung has announced that from September 6, 2019, the Galaxy Fold will be available for purchase in Korea. European users will have to wait two weeks longer: the flexible smartphone will be available in France, Germany, Singapore, England and the United States from September 18. In the press note released by the South Korean company, other countries are also mentioned, but for the moment it is certain that the device will not arrive in Italy. Unknown also the launch price, but should not differ much from that announced in February: just over 2000 euros.
Samsung Galaxy Fold: technical characteristics
The Galaxy Fold introduces the innovative foldable display of 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED in 4.2:3 format with a resolution of 2152×1536 and a small external screen of 4.6-inch Super AMOLED in 21:9 format with a resolution of 1680 x 720 pixels. Under the Galaxy Fold's shell is the Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The photographic compartment consists of a triple rear module with a 16 MegaPixel sensor and the remaining two 12 MegaPixels, while frontally there is a dual camera with 10 and 8 MegaPixel sensors.
The new version of the Galaxy Fold arrives with 5G network support: the modem for the super-fast network steals some space from the battery that is slightly smaller than the original model: 4235 mAh compared to the initial 4380 mAh stack. The Galaxy Fold will be available in two colors Cosmos Black and Space Silver.
Galaxy Fold, what changes from the previous version
It took a couple of months, but finally Samsung managed to solve the problems reported by testers during the first tests. The hinge has been improved and made impervious to dust and external agents. Changes have also been made to the screen: many testers had removed the screen film believing that it was the protective one, but in fact it was a fundamental component to make the display work.
