Samsung is ready to launch the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, low-cost and top-of-the-line version of the Galaxy S20. Here are the features and the price
The Galaxy S20 family expands: GeekBench shows a device with code SM-G781B, which should really correspond to the new smartphone Samsung Galaxy S20 "Fan Edition" also known as Lite. The range currently consists of the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra 5G models.
Although the name is still shrouded in a halo of mystery, news about the specifications chase each other and some are almost certain. In fact, benchmarks are confirmations rather than outright revelations. Moreover, some unknowns, such as the price, remain and we will probably have to wait for the official presentation of the device to know the details. In the meantime, there is a big news: probably on board there will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip, the same that we find in other top of the range models, while the operating system will be Android 10. We are therefore in front of a low-cost device, but with some top of the range specifications.
What we know about the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition
As mentioned the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have the Snapdragon 865, which is one of the highest performing processors on the market that also allows support for 5G.
Also, it will have 128 GB of storage for both the LTE model and the one with 5G and 6 GB of RAM, half of those present in the standard variant of the range. The design is very similar to the Galaxy S20: so it will probably have an AMOLED Infinity-O screen characterized by 6.2 inches with HRD10 +. The refresh rate will be 120Hz. The photo compartment will consist of three rear sensors: a 64-megapixel telephoto, a 12-megapixel and finally another 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The front camera will probably be 12-megapixel.
Another detail that emerges is related to the colors of the smartphone, which will be blue, white and light purple. The last shade could have the prism effect just like other devices of the parent company.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: characteristics still unknown
Aside the almost certain specifications, there are other elements still to be clarified. First of all, let's start with the materials: to keep the price down Samsung might opt for a plastic frame, just like the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite. Another detail still shrouded in mystery obviously concerns the price, which is usually among the last information to be revealed, and also the release date. Surely the price will be the most advantageous of the range.
Remember that the Galaxy S20 128GB LTE was launched at 929 euros while the Galaxy S20 128GB 5G at 1029 euros, and still the top of the range, namely the Galaxy S20 Ultra 512GB 5G has a cost of 1579 euros. Probably the Fan Edition version will have a lower price than those mentioned. For the market release there will be a wait: we talk about the first quarter of 2021.
