Honor Play 5 will have super charging at 66 Watts

Honor's new low-cost mid-range is ready: it will be presented on May 18, but much of the data sheet is already known.

For Honor Play 5, charging will be super, at 66 Watts: this is the announcement that arrived just a few hours ago, directly from the voice of the Chinese company. Waiting for the next May 18, the date chosen for the official launch, the manufacturer has decided to spread some of the most tantalizing details about its new smartphone of medium-low range.

The desire to trim the information on new devices is certainly not a unique prerogative of Honor but, undoubtedly, is creating a keen interest around the phone that will make its official debut in exactly one week from today. Among the aspects already revealed about the technical compartment of the now upcoming Honor Play 5, that of fast charging at 66 Watts is among the most interesting. The technology implemented will allow, therefore, to count on a cell phone again ready to use, through a charger intended for that use, just a few minutes after connection to the power outlet.

Honor Play 5, features of fast charging

The super charging of Honor Play 5 to 66 Watts will be available through what is, to all intents and purposes, already an "old" knowledge for those who had to do with the proposals of the Chinese brand. We talk about the technology already used on the Honor V40 series, presented at the beginning of 2021 and able to support this type of fast charging.

The charger should be associated with the identification number HW-110600C00 and be prepared for charging up to 66W (11V, 6A). The times released by Honor, for a 4000mAh battery, are quite satisfactory: the data speaks of only 15 minutes for a cycle from 0 to 60%, up to 100% during the span of 35 minutes in total.

The estimates could therefore come very close to the actual ones, since the device will have a 3800mAh accumulator at its disposal. The company, therefore, chooses in fact a battery with medium capacity focusing everything on the speed of recharge, consequently lightening the final weight and cost of the device.

Honor Play 5, the other details

That relating to charging, as imaginable, is not the only attribute that Honor wanted to share with the public. What we already know concerns other fundamental aspects of the new smartphone, namely the screen, the dimensions and the configuration of the camera module on the back of the Play 5.

To begin with, the display integrated on this device will be a 6.53-inch OLED panel, with FullHD+ resolution and a notch dedicated to the U-shaped front camera; under the panel, however, will be placed the fingerprint reader. The dimensions so far known, however, indicate a weight of about 179 grams, for a thickness that stands at 7.46 millimeters.

Switching to the main camera, Honor Play 5 will be able to count on a quad module with a setup that includes a 64MP main sensor, an 8 with ultra-wide-angle lens and the 2MP2MP combination for depth and macro. Two colors in which it will be launched: white (Aurora White) and silver (Silver Gradient).

As for the processor, however, there is talk of a Mediatek SoC Dimensity 800U. That is, a platform on which manufacturers have already built several mid-range models last year, which this year is instead declined in the medium-low range.
