The TV series will be set before The Iron Throne and will tell the events of the House of Targaryen. Here are the details and the first photos from the set.
After the great success of the TV series The Iron Throne, produced by HBO, comes the spin-off entitled House of the Dragon, a prequel set about 300 years before the events narrated in the mother series. In particular, it will focus on the events of the Targaryens, the house to which Daenerys, the mother of dragons, belongs.
The Throne of Swords has been over for more than a year, the TV series has accompanied viewers for 8 seasons and has been one of the most watched in recent years. The universe of George R. R. Martin is so wide and articulated that, probably, we will see other content connected to each other. Infatti, la serie madre è tratta da Le cronache del ghiaccio e del fuoco, mentre lo spin-off è ispirato a un altro famoso romanzo dello stesso autore. George R. R. Martin è coinvolto in prima persona anche per il nuovo show. La regia sarà invece affidata a Miguel Sapochnik, anche lui veterano di Game of Thrones. Secondo le ultime notizie, House of the Dragon sarà trasmessa su Sky e NOW molto presto. Le riprese sono iniziate poche settimane fa e HBO ha rilasciato le prime foto dal set.

House of the Dragon è basata sul romanzo Fuoco e Sangue di George R. R. Martin, che nel nuovo show di HBO riveste il ruolo di produttore esecutivo. La storia è ambientata 300 anni prima degli aventi raccontati in The Games of Thrones e si concentra sulle avventure dei membri della Casa Targaryen. Il prequel dovrebbe coprire un arco temporale di 150 anni.
La trama racconterà la fine del dominio dei Targaryen, ma sembra che ci sia in programma anche un continuo basato su un altro libro di R. R. Martin. L’obiettivo è coprire l’intero arco storico, fino alla ribellione di Robert Baratheon. Ciò permetterebbe ai prequel di ricongiungersi perfettamente alla serie madre.

Emma D’Arcy interpreta la Principessa Rhaenyra, primogenita del re Viserys Targaryen, il suo ruolo è invece affidato a Paddy Considine (Peaky Blinders).
Matt Smith (Doctor Who e The Crown) interpreta il Principe Daemon, cioè il fratello minore del Re Viserys ed erede al trono, un forte guerriero e abile cavalcatore di draghi.
C’è poi Steve Toussaint, che veste i panni di Lord Corlys Velaryon, chiamato anche «The Sea Snake», il più famoso navigatore della storia di Westeros, possiede la flotta più grande che il mondo abbia mai conosciuto. Infine, Olivia Cooke è Alicent Hightower, figlia del Primo Cavaliere del Re Otto Hightower.
Le location di House of the Dragon saranno davvero meravigliose e completamente diverse da quelle della serie madre. La serie è girata in Cornovaglia, tra spiagge selvagge e i piccoli villaggi. In particolare, uno dei set sarà Holywell Bay, spiaggia mozzafiato nel nord del Paese. Precedentemente era stato il set di “007 – La morte può attendere”.
