Setting WLAN: 5-GHz - how it works
If you surf the Internet wirelessly via a WLAN network, you can do so at 2.4- or 5-GHz. However, in order for your computer to use the 5-GHz network, which is less susceptible to interference, you must first adjust some settings on the device.
Setting 5-GHz for WLAN: This procedure is necessary on Windows PC
If your router has both a 2.4 GHz network and a 5 GHz network, it is recommended to use 5 GHz. Compared to the older 2.4 GHz standard, this not only gives you higher transmission power, but also more overlap-free channels, making it less susceptible to interference. To use 5 GHz for your WLAN connection, please follow the steps below to set it up:- If you have a Windows 10 PC, please first press the key combination of "Windows key" + "X" and select "Device Manager" from the menu that opens.
- In the Device Manager, please expand the "Network Adapter" category and search for your WLAN module.
- Then click with the real mouse button on the "WLAN module" and go to "Properties" > "Advanced".
- Depending on which WLAN adapter your computer uses, you must now make the appropriate setting to prioritize 5-GHz.
