Setting up Ubuntu Server - how the installation works

If you want to use Ubuntu Server, you have to set up the software first. There is no graphical wizard available to you for this, as is the case with other software. However, it is possible to set up Ubuntu Server in just a few steps. For this, you only need the operating system file.

How to set up Ubuntu Server

Ubuntu Server is especially useful if you need to convert a PC into a server. If you want to set up Ubuntu Server, several steps are necessary.

1. First, download the file of Ubuntu Server 18.04. LTS from the appropriate website.
2. Then you need to transfer the file to a USB stick. Create here a bootable USB stick with the operating system.
3. In the next step, you can boot Ubuntu Server from your USB stick. For this, place the USB stick in the UEFI menu in the first place of the boot order and reboot the device.
4. Next, select your language and set the keyboard layout to "German".
5. Now click here on "normal installation" and then "Install Ubuntu".
6. When asked about the network interface, keep the default settings. Die Proxy-Einstellung können Sie dagegen überspringen.
7. Wählen Sie bei „Dateisystem einrichten“ die Option „Use An Entire Disk“ und stellen Sie die Festplatte ein, auf der die Software installiert werden soll.

9. Füllen Sie das Formular aus und warten Sie, bis die Installation beendet wurde. Starten Sie den Server neu.
