When is the PlayStation 5 coming - and what will it do?

The current console generation from Sony is still in full swing, but an end is slowly in sight. Not surprisingly, then, there is already a lot of speculation about the successor to the world's most successful console. In the meantime, there are even exact dates for the release of the PlayStation 5.

The launch of the PlayStation 5 is already eagerly awaited.

The PlayStation 4 appeared in 2013 and received an upgrade in 2016 with the PlayStation 4 Pro. However, the next step will be bigger, because with the PlayStation 5 the next era is coming.

PlayStation 5: Release in November 2020

The long wait came to an end on November 19, 2020, because on this day the new PlayStation 5 was released.

• The PlayStation 5 is available in two variants.
• While the price of the digital edition without drive is 399 euros, the model with drive costs 499 euros.
• Both variants are 390mm wide and 260mm deep. Only in terms of height and weight do the models differ. Here, the variant with Blu-Ray drive is taller and heavier at 104mm vs. 92mm and 4.5kg vs. 3.9kg.
• The PS5 has an HDMI OUT port, multiple USB ports, an Ethernet port, and supports Wifi and Bluetooth 5.1.
• Außerdem ist in der PlayStation 5 eine 825GB SSD verbaut, es gibt 16GB Arbeitsspeicher und die Möglichkeit einer Speichererweiterung über den SSD-Slot.
• Neben der Konsole wurde von Sony auch eine Reihe Zubehör für die PS5 veröffentlich. So gibt es neben einer HD-Kamera mit zwei 1080p-Linsen, ein PULSE ED-Wireless Headsed, eine Medienfernbedienung und eine DualSense-Ladestation.
