Powerful armor like wolf armor means even more defense when paired with a shield. In doing so, you have several options.

Valheim: Two types of shield - these are the options

Basically, you have a choice between round fist shields and rectangular tower shields.

• Fist shields are slightly smaller and lighter. This means: the block value is slightly lower, but the shield weighs less, so you remain more mobile. Also, you can not only block, but also parry.
• Tower shields are the ultimate bastion of defense. They are large and heavy and make your character slow, but in return the block value is extremely high, theoretically even 100 percent. Even heavy attacks are simply swallowed.

In both categories you increase in the course of the game depending on the materials and unlocks. So you start with the wood variants, later bronze, iron and black metal come into play.
