Using Microsoft Teams privately - is that possible?

Microsoft Teams can be used on the job for chats or video calls, for example. In general, this application is intended to facilitate working in groups, which is why the program provides you with a variety of functions. But you can use Microsoft Teams not only at work, but also in everyday life with friends and family.

How to use Microsoft Teams privately

You can use Microsoft Teams privately through special channels in which you can collaborate. Only selected participants have access to these channels in order to limit communication, especially in confidential matters.

1. First, select the team you want to work with on a private channel and then go to the three dots to click "Add channel".
2. Now you can specify both a description and a name for it.
3. Followed by pressing the arrow at "Privacy" and now select "Private- Only accessible to a certain group of people in the team".
4. With "Next" you create the new channel and are now automatically its owner.
5. If you want to add more people, simply select their names and click "Add".

How to create a private chat

You can also create a chat privately in Microsoft Teams to communicate confidential data.

1. Dafür navigieren Sie in der linken Menüleiste in die Funktion „Chat“.
2. Nun wählen Sie in der oberen Leiste das Symbol für „Neuer Chat“ aus.
3. Im Anschluss können Sie den Namen oder die E-Mail-Adresse der Person eingeben, mit der Sie privat kommunizieren möchten.
