System Restore Windows 10: How easy it is

When your PC breaks down again, the last resort is System Restore. With it you reset your computer to an older state. In the process, you'll get rid of any problems that have cropped up since the last restore point.

What to do to start System Restore?

In Windows 10, just like in previous versions, there is also the option to reset your system to an earlier point. However, this will also lose all the data that you have saved since then. If you don't want to lose them, you should save the most important data externally beforehand. Cloud services are also suitable for this if you have a fast Internet connection. Afterwards, you can easily start System Restore via the Control Panel.

Perform System Restore

To perform System Restore on Windows 10, follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs that are still open on your computer.
  2. Enter "System Restore Point" in Windows search and click the search result with the same name.
  3. Click "Create" and follow the instructions to create a backup for recovery.
  4. If you want to load this backup point, click "System Restore" instead and follow the instructions.
  5. If you want to reset the whole system or load an old Windows Update instead, go to the Start menu and click the number wheel icon.
  6. Navigate to "Update and Security > Restore" and follow the instructions.
Before you run System Restore on Windows 10, it is recommended to create a backup.
