Windows 10: Set up your own IP address
The IP address identifies your PC on the Internet. This not only ensures that it can be traced, but also that you will face internet blocking. We'll tell you how to set up your IP address.
How to set up your IP address in Windows 10
By customizing your IP address to your needs, you can avoid Internet lockouts. In addition, you increase your security by changing your IP address regularly.- First, open the Control Panel of your device. To do this, type the term "Control Panel" into the search bar.
- You will now see an overview of the sections. Select "Network and Internet from".
- From the list that appears, you must select "View network status and tasks".
- Click on the option "Change adapter settings" and select the desired network.
- Use a right-click and click on the entry "Properties".
- Scroll through the list until you find the item "Internet Protocol, Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and use a double-click.
- Check "Use the following IP address" so that the network does not automatically use your network address. Now enter your new IP address at this point and make sure that the address is not yet used by the network.
