Word document: restore predecessor

There are several scenarios that can cause you to have been unable to save the version of your Word document you want. However, the question is whether you are able to restore the previous version of the desired document and what are your options.

These are the options you have

You can take different paths depending on whether you have saved the document in question or not.
  • Once you have saved the document, the first thing you need to do is call the file you have been working on.
  • Following that, click on "File" and then on "Information". Now call the option "Manage documents" and click on the desired file.
  • Now you only have to click on the on the top bar on the option "Restore" to overwrite the saved version with the desired variant.
  • If you no longer had the opportunity to save the document, then follow the path "File" > "Information" > "Manage documents".
  • Now select that you want to restore an unsaved document. You will be shown the files you can restore, and the one in question you now open.
  • Finally, you should save the desired file to have the correct version handy.

Do the options work at all times?

The possibility of recovery is limited. This is because Word's internal save function is only given temporarily. This means that the options only exist if you have not shut down your laptop or PC yet. As soon as that happens, the recovery will not work anymore.
