Security of online banking - all info

With online banking, you can perform all everyday banking transactions via your browser or an app. So you no longer have to go to the bank every time you want to make a transfer, for example. You can usually get the access data for online banking from your bank.

How secure is online banking?

It has happened time and again in recent years that account data has been digitally stolen. Generally, however, in most cases this is only possible if you fall for a corresponding phishing e-mail. If you receive an email that comes from your bank, never click on any links. Always go directly to the bank's site and log in there to use online banking securely.
  1. Meanwhile, there are several TAN procedures that ensure that you yourself make the transaction and not a third party.
  2. Generally, each of these procedures uses a second device. This is usually your smartphone, but can also be a TAN device in which you have to insert your card.
  3. In the pushTAN procedure, a code is sent to an app on your phone and you have to enter it online.
  4. Furthermore, there is the photoTAN procedure, in which you are shown a QR code on the page, which you photograph with the app.
In any case, check all transfer data before you confirm it. So you ensure that there is no change to the data.
