MacOS: Edit PDF - use the preview properly

You often get scripts and presentations as PDF files because the format is handy. If you just want to add some annotations or markups, then there is no need to work with another program. Your Mac already provides you with an appealing option.

How to edit a PDF file with Preview

Simple changes can be made with the Preview tool that your Mac already has installed.
  1. Select the PDF file you want to edit by double-clicking on it.
  2. You will now automatically see the document in the "Preview" tool.
  3. In the top menu bar you will find the "View" button, which you now click.
  4. A drop-down menu will open, where you click on "Tool List".
  5. Over your PDF document you will now find various icons that represent the tools that the tool offers you.
  6. With arrows and markers you can highlight certain passages or point out errors.
  7. The speech bubble allows you to write specific comments on sections. Using the bar function, you can make individual text passages unrecognizable.

Do you need another program?

To make superficial changes to a PDF file, you can simply work with "Preview". But if you want to work directly in the corresponding file, then there are several free programs that you should prefer for this process. Because the standardized tool does not allow you to perform extensive work. But for a correction, proofreading or even specific notes on changes, as well as the personal processing of the content, the existing tool is sufficient.
