Change WLAN password - this is how it works at Telekom
The WLAN password is necessary at Telekom to use the router's wireless Internet connection and serves as protection against unauthorized access. If you are worried that your WLAN password is not secure enough, you can easily change it. You can find out how to do this here.
This function has the WLAN password of the Telekom router
By default, every Telekom router has a WLAN key, which is located on the back of the device. The WLAN key acts as a password and is required whenever you want to access the router's WLAN function with a computer, mobile device or SmartTV. Since Internet use is only possible after the password has been entered, the WLAN key ensures that your WLAN network is protected from unauthorized access and misuse.Telekom: How to change the WLAN password
If your WLAN has been hacked or if you would prefer to set your own password for accessing your WLAN, this is possible with a Telekom device via the configuration program.- To do this, first open any browser on your computer and call up the user interface of the Telekom router under "http://speedport.ip".
- Then navigate to "Security" in the router configuration menu and click on "SSID & Encryption".
- There, look for the entry "Pre-Shared Key (PSK)" and type in a new WLAN password in the corresponding field. Make sure that it has at least 18 characters and consists of letters, numbers and special characters.
- Finally click "Save" to confirm the change of the WLAN password.
