Discord: Enable Push-to-Talk - how it works

By default, Discord voice input is active throughout. If you don't want that, the alternative is push-to-talk. Read how to set it up and assign the button you want.

Only push to talk gives you full control in Discord voice chat.

With push to talk, you will only be heard in Discord if you press a button while speaking. The setting is quickly found.

Discord: Enable Push-to-Talk with a few clicks

Push-to-Talk can be set up as follows:
  1. Click on the gear icon in the Discord client to open the "Settings".
  2. Open the "Language & Video" section on the left.
  3. There you will see the input mode, which is always set to "Voice Activation" after installation. Put the check mark at "Push-to-Talk" directly below.
  4. Now you still have to specify the desired button.
The settings are automatically saved and can be tested without speaking: If you press the specified talk button and your name in the Discord channel lights up in the process, push-to-talk is active.
