Google Maps: this is how map saving is possible

If you use Google Maps for route planning and frequently drive a certain route, you have the option to save the corresponding route including the map. To use this function, first call up Google Maps in the browser and log in with your user data. Then click on "Create new map" at the top left and enter the start and destination. As soon as you press the Enter key, the route will be displayed on the map and you can give it a name by clicking on "Unknown Map" and save it. Once saved, the call of the map is possible at any time under "My Places" > "Maps".

Save map: How to do it in the Google Maps app

If you have Google Maps installed as an app on your smartphone, it is also possible there to save and download a map.

1. Use an Android smartphone, please first open the Google Maps app for this and make sure you are logged in.
2. Then search for a specific location or route and tap "Download".
3. If you are using Google Maps on an iOS device, such as iPhone or iPad, please also first open the Maps app before starting a route search.
4. Tap then on the place name or the searched address, open the three-dot menu and navigate in this to "Download offline maps" > "Download".
