Google Maps: Update timeline - how to do it

With the timeline you can always track your paths and stays in Google Maps. If the data is not complete, you can force the application to update it.

Always up to date: You can manually move the timeline to retrieve data.

It's not uncommon for it to take a few minutes for the timeline to be up to date after a location change. If the data is still incomplete even then, you can help.

Google Maps: How to update the timeline

Updating the timeline is quite simple:
  1. Open the timeline in the Maps app.
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Refresh".
The app now retrieves the latest data, the timeline should update as a result. You may still need to confirm or correct some entries, but this is not uncommon as inaccuracies cannot be avoided.
