The Stadia Controller is by no means mandatory to use Stadia. However, a certain feature is supposed to serve as a selling point. The following is currently known about the Stadia controller:

• Optically, the Stadia controller does not bring any conspicuous features with it: It corresponds to the usual concept, the form factor looks like a mixture of the controllers for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
• The controller is thus primarily aimed at players who do not yet own a controller, but would like to try Stadia.
• The controller nevertheless has one technical feature: It connects directly to the Stadia data center via the router. This is to greatly reduce the input delay compared to other devices.
• The controller is available in three colors Clearly White, Just Black and Wasabi and has a record button and a button for using the Google Assistant.

Google Stadia: The cost of the controller

If you decide to use Google Stadia, it is necessary to purchase the Stadia Premiere Edition, which already includes a controller. This costs 129€ and also includes a Chromecast Ultra and a subscription to Stadia Pro. However, the purchase of an additional controller is possible at any time for the price of 69€ in Google's online store.
