Chromecast Media Player - these are the options you have

Using Chromecast, you connect your screen to your TV via streaming. This allows you to play any content you want. Via the Chromecast app, you also use the VLC Media Player via Google Chrome. This comes up with the most flexible options.

Competition to Windows: The VLC Media Player

The free VLC Media Player has already been a competitor product to Windows Media Player for years. With the ability to include subtitles or play DVDs, the all-rounder has integrated well among users. With the help of Google Chrome, you can now also use the VLC Player for Chromecast. You drag the video into the browser and it is automatically transferred to the TV. This allows you to play music or any video of your choice in up to 1080p. This makes VLC Player even more useful and adds useful capabilities to Google's streaming device.

How to use Media Player with Chromecast

To stream content from VLC Media Player to your Chromecast, your PC and Chromecast must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
  1. First, install VLC Media Player if you don't already have it on your PC.
  2. Now connect your Chromecast to your TV.
  3. Next, open VLC Media Player and navigate to "Video > Renderer > Scan" at the top.
  4. Wait a moment while it searches for devices. Then select your Chromecast.
  5. When you want to play a video now, a notice appears that you would be on an unsafe site. Accept to continue anyway.
