iPhone X: DFU-Mode - how to use it

The DFU-Mode is also called maintenance mode and is required on the iPhone X if you want to reinstall iOS on the device. What procedure is necessary to put your iPhone X into DFU mode, we explain here.

iPhone X: This is the DFU mode

DFU is the abbreviation for the "Device Firmware Update" and refers to a mode that you need to put the iPhone X in before you reinstall the device. Unlike the reset, DFU mode not only deletes the iPhone X's settings, but also completely reboots the operating system. DFU mode is mainly used when the iPhone does not start or does not respond anymore, or when the device is deactivated and not recognized by iTunes. Also to make a jailbreak on the iPhone X, it is previously necessary to put the device in DFU mode.

So put your iPhone X in DFU mode

To set up the DFU mode, first start iTunes on your computer and connect the iPhone X to your computer. Now, first press and release the "Volume Up" button. Then, also press and release the device's "Volume Down Button".

1. Next, press and hold the iPhone X's "Power Button" for about 10 seconds until its screen turns black.
