What is Google Now?

Google Now has been available for smartphones and tablets since 2012. The personal assistant was supported by iOS and Android operating systems from Jelly Bean 4.1 or higher. The extension of the Google search function still enjoys great popularity, but now as Google Assistant.

What functions does Google Now have?

The idea behind Google Now is an assistant that accompanies you through your everyday life and provides valuable information. These messages can include important appointments, results of current sporting events, traffic news, cultural offers nearby or even the weather forecast. The app is based on your personal settings and interests. The service evaluates all available data that you have left behind when searching the Internet and other Google offers. In the meantime, Google Now has been replaced by Google Assistant. However, the range of functions has expanded.

How to use the Google Assistant

An important part of the service is the voice search. In some cases, however, the voice recognition "Ok Google" is disabled. For this, you need the Google app. Depending on the smartphone, the activation is also possible via the settings of the device.
  1. Open the app on your smartphone.
  2. Then select right and the three-dot menu to open the settings of the application.
  3. Here you select "Voice Match" under "Ok Google" and activate the option.
"OK Google" is enabled by default only in the Google app, but you can also activate this service on any other screen.
