The Nokia 9 PureView was presented at Mobile World Congress 2019: it has five rear cameras. On board the Snapdragon 845 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory
It's more than a year that we talk about the Nokia 9, the smartphone that must revive the ambitions of the Finnish company in the top of the range. It's been two years since Nokia returned to the world of smartphones and the results have been more than satisfactory. Nokia has been appreciated especially in the mid-range sector, thanks to smartphones with good technical features and excellent value for money. But with the arrival of the Nokia 9 PureView, the Finnish company attempts the leap in quality.
In recent months the smartphone has been much talked about. The reason is simple: the Nokia 9 PureView is the first smartphone with as many as five rear cameras. The pentacam system was made by German company Carl Zeiss and ensures the highest quality images. The five sensors work together to take a 12-megapixel HDR image. The first shots shown by Nokia show the full potential of this innovative photo module. However, there is no shortage of negative notes. The smartphone mounts the Snapdragon 845 processor, released last year and now surpassed by the brand new Snapdragon 855. In terms of performance, the Nokia 9 will certainly suffer the comparison with the top of the range released in recent weeks.
The characteristics of the Nokia 9
The Nokia 9 PureView fits into the category of the top of the range. On board we find the Snapdragon 845 chipset supported by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The pOLED screen is 5.99 inches with 2K resolution. The design of the smartphone is not particularly innovative: it features rather noticeable bezels on both the top and bottom.
The battery is 3320mAh with support for fast charging and wireless charging. The fingerprint sensor is present under the screen.
Like all smartphones from the Finnish company, the Nokia 9 PureView is also part of the Android One family and mounts a pure version of the green robot operating system. Nokia has assured that the device will receive two major updates and three years of support with security patches. On board there will be Android 9 Pie.
The photo compartment of the Nokia 9
The photo compartment of the Nokia 9 PureView deserves a closer look. As anticipated, the smartphone mounts a photo module composed of as many as five sensors: two 12-megapixel RGB lenses and three 12-megapixel monochrome lenses. All five cameras work together to make a single 12-megapixel image. Also supporting the sensors is a co-processor that automatically corrects exposure and white balance for each of the five cameras. The cameras also support HDR.
The front sensor is 20 Megapixels.
