The Italian state radio and television makes available, for free, thousands of live and on-demand contents: this is the RaiPlay Sound revolution, a new app that replaces RaiPlay Radio
Not only digital terrestrial for Rai: the Italian state TV is a colossus, producing every day thousands of contents of information, culture, sport and entertainment and it is not only video contents. On the contrary, a large part of Rai's production is audio. But audio doesn't necessarily mean radio and, thus, the old RaiPlay Radio platform has become RaiPlay Sound.
RaiPlay Sound is a website and an app, available for both Android and iOS, and offers a huge amount of sound content of various kinds for free. C’è la radio in diretta streaming, certamente, ma i 12 canali radiofonici sono solo una piccola parte dell’offerta perché, ed è questa la cosa interessante di RaiPlay Sound, tanti contenuti sono l’adattamento “solo audio" di materiale nato per la TV. Così, ad esempio, ci sono le versioni audio delle serie TV o dei film di maggior successo: le scene vengono raccontate da una voce fuoricampo, tra un dialogo e l’altro. Come già accennato, la differenza tra la vecchia RaiPlay Radio e la nuova RaiPlay Sound è tutta nei contenuti disponibili: non più solo radio, ma anche molto altro.
Su RaiPlay Sound, quindi, troviamo tutte le Radio Rai in streaming, la versione audio di film e serie TV in onda sui canali Rai, audiolibri, podcast e molto contenuti dedicati ai più piccoli: fiabe, storie e programmi radio specifici per i bambini.
Come è facile immaginare, infine, l’archivio di contenuti disponibili è enorme e contiene migliaia di file audio, che diventeranno ancor di più con il tempo. Se abbiamo perso una puntata di un programma radiofonico, quindi, lo troveremo dopo poco su RaiPlay Sound.
Stessa cosa per i podcast, tra i quali vanno citati molti “originals" creati appositamente per la nuova piattaforma.
RaiPlay Sound: how it works
RaiPlay Sound, therefore, was born on the right foot: the complete and continuous digitalization of all the contents produced by the public radio and television group, with the added advantage of offering audio-only adapted versions of contents created for television.
All this is absolutely free, since RaiPlay Sound is paid for with the Rai fee. You don't even have to register, because RaiPlay Sound can also be used anonymously. To create playlists and an archive of favorite content, however, you need to register. Registration can be done with your email address or by connecting your Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple ID or Huawei ID account.
Registered users, after logging in, will be able to "follow" a strand of content and listen to it even offline, after downloading it, create playlists and share content and, most importantly, use the "Bookmark" feature thanks to which you can place a marker within a minute-second of the content, add an annotation and then easily find that point again with a search within the My Podcasts &; Bookmarks section.
