Samsung Galaxy S8: Infinity Display and Bixby the strong points

Samsung presented the Galaxy S8 in an event organized ad hoc in New York: many new features, starting with the new Infinity Display

The rumors of the last months had praised its praises, anticipated all the most important features and functionalities and finally the new Samsung Galaxy S8 was presented to the press during an event organized ad hoc in New York.

After the short video shown during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung has decided to remove the veils from its new gem. As in past years, the top of the range of the South Korean company has been made in two different versions: the Galaxy S8 will have a 5.8-inch screen, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will have a slightly larger 6.2-inch display. In both cases, the panel will be edge-to-edge. Although the screen size is larger, the new bezel-less design has allowed Samsung to make two devices about the same size as last year's. Let's take a look at all the features of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus together.

Galaxy S8: Infinity Display

Xiaomi led the way with its Mi Mix, all other companies have followed suit. The Samsung Galaxy S8 represents a real revolution in terms of design. In fact, the screen in addition to being edge-to-edge, has very small bezels at the top and bottom of the smartphone. The body ratio exceeds 80%. In the smaller version, the Samsung Galaxy S8 mounts a 5.8-inch screen with a QHD+ resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus mounts a 6.2-inch screen, again with 2960 x 1440 pixel resolution. The Korean company has dubbed the new screen "Infinity Display".

Technical features Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus

The two top of the range Samsung devices have an identical data sheet. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus mount an Exynos 8895 chipset (made with the same architecture as the Snapdragon 835) supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, expandable with a 256GB microSD.

As for the photographic compartment, the Korean company decided not to bet on the dual rear camera and mount a single 12 Megapixel lens with Dual Pixel technology and optical image stabilization. The rear camera is 8 Megapixels.

Under the security profile, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features the iris scanner that will allow the user to add an extra layer of protection to the fingerprint sensor. The battery will be 3000 mAh on the Galaxy S8 and 3500 mAh on the Galaxy S8 Plus.

Bixby, the personal assistant designed for users

Another great new feature built into the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the Bixby personal assistant. After Google, Amazon and Apple, Samsung also descends into the field of virtual assistants and does so with a very interesting artificial intelligence. Bixby Vision can be used in conjunction with the camera and provide additional information about what you are framing. Bixby Home, on the other hand, will be the true personal assistant that will help the user manage every aspect of their life. The more it is used, the more accurate its work becomes. Bixby Voice, on the other hand, will be the virtual assistant with the same functionality as Google Assistant and Siri: if questioned it will know how to provide the right answers. At first, the only language supported will be English.

The accessories of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus

Along with its top of the range devices, Samsung has also presented accessories that will enhance the use of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. In the package, users will find a pair of Harman Kardon earphones of excellent quality. Recall that Samsung bought the US company last year for an amount of about 8 billion euros. Another very interesting accessory will be Samsung DeX that will allow you to turn the Galaxy S8 into a real computer and use it via keyboard and mouse. A solution similar to Microsoft Continuum.
