Available in two versions, the white one has a hollow in the upper part that makes it look like the iPhone X. Datasheet and price, however, are different
Unveiled in September along with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X is certainly one of the most anticipated products ahead of the now upcoming 2017 holiday season. The launch of the applephone of the decade, in fact, is expected to take place in mid-November, or at least these were Apple's initial plans.
While waiting to see if the Cupertino-based company will be able to meet the promised deadlines (production is growing, but according to some experts Apple may have problems to satisfy all requests), other manufacturers are churning out iPhone X clones ready to invade the international market. And if the iPhone X mini is a handcrafted product (at the moment) not intended for sale, from China comes an Android smartphone that resembles in every way the Apple Phone of the decade (operating system aside, of course). It's called the Symbol S3 and was recently unveiled at an electronics trade show in the Asian country.
Symbol S3, the Chinese iPhone X with Android Oreo
Available in two different versions - both with top recess and without top recess - the Symbol S3 is manufactured by HotWav and is aesthetically identical to the more famous iPhone X. Available in two versions (a white one with recess and a black one without recess at the top of the device), the Chinese smartphone has a 6-inch display with HD resolution (1440×720 pixels), quadcore Mediatek SoC, 2 gigabytes of RAM and 16 gigabytes of storage space. The data sheet of the iPhone X clone is completed by 4 cameras, two front (13 and 2 megapixels) and two rear (16 and 2 megapixels, arranged vertically just like in the flagship device of the Cupertino company). Obviously, the Symbol S3 is not equipped with Face ID, let alone buttons with a fingerprint sensor. To move everything we find Android 8.0 Oreo, with interface properly modified to make even more marked similarity with iPhone X and iOS 11. Beyond the appearance, in short, the points of contact between the two devices are really reduced to the bone or even non-existent. Marked differences also on the price front: according to rumors coming from China, the Symbol S3 should not exceed $ 200 (about 170 euros).
