Vodafone is the first operator to launch a commercial 5G network in our country. The pricing plans also include smartphones: here are which ones
The 5G mobile connection also arrives in Italy, with Vodafone's first offer that can be activated starting June 16 (but the network is already in operation) in five Italian cities: Milan, Rome, Turin, Bologna and Naples. No coverage expansions are planned for the entirety of this year, while between 2020 and 2021 Vodafone's 5G will be extended to a total of 100 cities.
Vodafone has already prepared offers, both for individuals and businesses, all of which can be activated from day 16. In some cases the transition to 5G will be automatic and painless for the user, in others you will have to subscribe to the 5G option paying it separately. In any case, in addition to coverage on the Vodafone network, to take advantage of the new connection the user must have a smartphone compatible with 5G. Vodafone has already signed partnerships for subscription plans that also include compatible smartphones from Xiaomi, LG and Samsung.
5G Vodafone: prices for individuals and businesses
Private users who have already signed up to a 5G Ready offer (i.e. RED Unlimited Smart, RED Unlimited Black, Shake it Easy and Vodafone One Pro contracts) will be able to take advantage of 5G as of June 16, at no additional cost. All other Vodafone customers will be able to activate the 5G option at a cost of €5 per month, with the first month free.
Business users, on the other hand, if they have a Black plan will immediately be enabled to 5G at no cost while if they have a RED plan they will have to pay for the 5G option at €5 per month.
Smartphone 5G with Vodafone
Thanks to agreements signed with Xiaomi, LG and Samsung, users will also be able to sign a contract that also includes the 5G phone. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G can be chosen as early as tomorrow, June 6, by going to the store or on Vodafone's website. The LG V50 ThinQ 5G will arrive shortly after, on June 10, again in the operator's stores or on the site. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, on the other hand, will be available only in Vodafone stores and not before the end of the month (but can be pre-ordered as early as June 10).
The characteristics of Vodafone's 5G network
The implementation of 5G by Vodafone starts right away under the banner of performance. In fact, the company has announced that users will be able to surf at up to 10 Gbps speed and with a latency of just 5 milliseconds (compared to the 30 ms of 4G, at best). Vodafone, not for nothing, defines its 5G network with the name of Giga Network 5G in Real Time, that is able to offer bandwidths in the order of Giga and with immediate response thanks to the ability of the network to adapt to different traffic situations to optimize performance.
