In the last year, Xiaomi has achieved important records and has grown more and more. The Chinese company has imposed itself with its devices in the smartphone market, entering in fact on the podium of sellers along with Samsung and Apple.
The month of June 2021 was important for Xiaomi, which managed for the first time to beat its North Korean rival in sales by winning the first place (temporary) of the ranking. The first ambitious goal has been achieved, but it remains to be seen if it will be able to continue to impose itself and maintain its supremacy in the following months, to finally become the number one smartphone brand in the world at the end of the year. A goal that has been set by Lei Jun, head of the company, has reiterated in recent statements the intentions: to impose itself on the market and become the leader in just three years of the brand.
Xiaomi: the ranking of the second quarter 2021
The ranking of smartphone vendors has now seen for years the dominance of Samsung and Apple, but now Xiaomi is attempting the climb and the results are evident. According to the ranking of the company Counterpoint Research, in the second quarter of 2021 Xiaomi has beaten Apple imposing itself in second place for number of best-selling smartphones globally.
In first place remains solid Samsung, but the difference between the two Chinese and South Korean brands is getting thinner and thinner. In fourth place is confirmed Oppo, also a brand on the rise in the smartphone industry, while right behind is Vivo.
Xiaomi's overtaking of Samsung was seen in the third quarter 2021, at least for the month of June in which the Chinese company overtook the South Korean. If it can maintain this lead, the upcoming results could sanction an advancement on the podium for Xiaomi.
Xiaomi: CEO's admission
The intentions of the Chinese company were clear to everyone in the smartphone industry, but last August CEO Jun confirmed them openly. The company has been gaining momentum over the past three years and the goal is to continue to grow and dominate other brands, as stated in August: "In the hearts of Xiaomi fans, Xiaomi is a company with a dream. Thank you to all our fans for believing in us. At our launch event on August 10, I finally had the courage to say out loud: in three years, Xiaomi aims to become the No. 1 smartphone brand in the world!"
Xiaomi: Reasons for Rise
According to analysts, Xiaomi's rise is not due to the unpopularity of the Huawei brand caused by U.S. sanctions. On the contrary, the brand would have managed to emerge thanks to market segmentation in both China and Europe. The next step for the company is to enter the U.S. market, repeating the success of OnePlus.
Obviously, the company's goal is to impose itself in the sector and remain at the top, but Samsung and Apple will not remain on the sidelines: it will have to segment its market and invest in advertising to be able to face the two Big of the sector and maintain for a long time the position acquired. Without forgetting the quality of its devices, the software in use and its updates and the quality-price ratio of its smartphones.
