ZTE launches smartphone that sticks to the wall. Photo and video

The Chinese company is looking for funds on Kickstarter to make a 5.5-inch dual sim device, with dual rear cameras and Android 7.0 Nougat

ZTE is thinking of a new, unconventional way to launch its new smartphone: Kickstarter. For those unfamiliar with it, this is a collective funding website for creative projects. The Chinese company will use the crowdfunding platform for its Hawkeye eye-tracking smartphone.

ZTE and its Hawkeye. ZTE for the moment hasn't left many specifics about its new device, and currently Hawkeye, occhio di falco in Italian, is just a prototype. However, the Chinese company has let it be known that the display will be a 5.5-inch HD. The device will be dual-sim, equipped with a fingerprint sensor and expandable internal memory. The operating system will be Android and on the market the smartphone will arrive unlocked. The most interesting aspect, however, is given by the front camera, the Hawkeye, which also gives its name to the device. This will track the movement of the eyes of users to help them in the use of the device.

ZTE Hawkeye: ergonomic design and low price

(Taken from Kickstarter)

The ZTE smartphone being launched on Kickstarter will be built with an ergonomic design and will feature a non-slip and shockproof coating that will allow a good grip of the device even without the use of the external case. In addition, thanks to the special materials can be attached to the wall, glass or aluminum, even vertically. At the moment on Kickstarter the Hawkeye smartphone is being launched at only $ 199. ZTE has set a goal of $500,000 before starting shipments. Which according to the company should be around early September. Those who will fund the project will be able to customize the device a lot. The name itself has been chosen by users. We could decide colors, materials and some software settings.

How does eye-tracking work?

The technology that tracks the movement of our eyes, inside Hawkeye, will allow us to browse pages, conversations or documents with a simple movement of the eyes. And integrated with voice commands will be useful to improve navigation on browsers but also for a simple use of applications and a quick adjustment of settings. Among other features anticipated by ZTE also a dual rear camera, a battery that will guarantee at least a day with intense use and the update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
