Toyota has unveiled a project that allows you to turn any car into a potential car sharing vehicle
The Japanese automaker's Smart Keybox is a Bluetooth device that allows users to unlock and start the engine of any car - not just Toyota - using their smartphone that will act as a key. It's an interesting idea for sharing the same car, and organizing to perhaps share the same ride together.
Toyota plans to integrate this new technology next year in a pilot project in San Francisco, in collaboration with peer-to-peer car-sharing service Getaround, which received a $10 million investment last week from a fund controlled by the Japanese automaker.
